      Soumya Misra is a senior at the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. She is majoring in film and completing a certificate in Public Policy, concentrating in Public Health. She has previously interned at the New York Academy of Medicine where she worked on the Age-Friendly NYC initiative, conducting health policy research and helping to facilitate consultations for older adults to freely discuss a variety of topics concerning their neighborhoods. She  currently work as a production intern for the StarTalk Television and Radio, merging her interests in video production and science, as well as a video intern for the Asia Society, assisting in the production of video content for its award-winning online team. She also serves as the Chief Information Officer for the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute she professionally manages all social media accounts and is responsible for the weekly news digest, Frank Friday. 

      After completing her senior year, Soumya wishes to pursue a masters in public health, eventually working on creating policies that reduce healthcare discrimination and inequity, focusing on reducing mental health stigma in South Asian populations. She also wants to use her passion for filmmaking as a means to educate on issues of public health, such as the disparity in access to healthcare, both in mental and physical health.
