2012 Joan H. Tisch Distinguished Fellow in Public Health

In the fall of 2012, the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College convened a Food Policy Seminar of faculty experts throughout the City University of New York (CUNY) community. The seminar was co-facilitated by Dr. Sue Atkinson, Joan H. Tisch Distinguished Fellow in Public Health at Roosevelt House, and Dr. Nicholas Freudenberg, Distinguished Professor of Public Health at the Hunter College and the CUNY School of Public Health. Over the course of the semester, the group participated in seminar sessions to explore selected areas of urban food policy. Though by no means exhaustive, the policy areas were chosen by the group to reflect a range of current issues in food policy.

The purpose of this brief is to summarize the seminar proceedings and to highlight policy implications and directions for future research.
