PROGRAM

Please join us on for a special conversation with Annie Valliere, who will discuss her current research project. In “‘A Tiny Red-Haired Bundle of Social Dynamite: The Life of Rose Schneiderman,” Valliere explores the extraordinary life of her great aunt, Rose Schneiderman. An immigrant garment worker turned union organizer and labor leader, Schneiderman went on to become the Vice President of the Women’s Trade Union League, the New York State Secretary of Labor, and a member of the National Recovery Administration.  Her work in these various roles, along with her friendship with Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, played an important part in the advancement of protective legislation for women and workers that became a hallmark of Progressive and New Deal Era reforms.

A complimentary lunch will be served.
