PROGRAM

Vets for American Ideals, a project of Human Rights First, will host an event in honor of World Refugee Day at Roosevelt House to raise awareness of the millions of men, women, and children forced to flee their homes due to conflict.

Veterans have a particular interest in refugees. Thousands of interpreters, translators, and allies who served with the U.S. military today are endangered due to their affiliation with the United States. Join us for an interactive discussion on refugees, those allies who served with us in Iraq and Afghanistan, and how American leadership on this issue is vital to our interests abroad and imperative to upholding our national values.

Panel Discussion:
Matt Gallagher, Former U.S. Army captain and author of the acclaimed Iraq War memoir Kaboomand Youngblood
Eric Gardiner, U.S. Navy SEAL veteran and Advisor to the President for Education, Council on Foreign Relations
Mohammad Souri (Name changed to protect family), Syrian refugee

Other panelists to be announced.

Press must RSVP to Christopher Plummer plummerc@humanrightsfirst.org or 202-370-3310
