Professor and Roosevelt House Faculty Associate Pamela Falk writes in the New Yorker of the recently canceled trip of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to North Korea. The visit was canceled by the host the day before Ban was to arrive without explanation. Ban was set to visit the Kaesong Industrial facility, where North Korean nationals work for South Korean companies. Falk was part of a small group of journalists invited to accompany the Secretary-General.

From the article: “‘We would have shown North-South cooperation,’ Ban told me, in the lobby of his hotel, a half hour before making a formal announcement of the reversal.” Read the full text here.
