Roosevelt House is hiring for the position: JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars Program Coordinator. (Part-Time, 20 hours/week) — Apply on the idealist website.

The JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars Program offers scholarships, mentorship, career-building workshops, and internship placements to high-achieving junior and senior women who are interested in careers in public service, public policy and social justice. The Program Coordinator will be the primary coordinator of the JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars Program and provide ongoing support to the Program. This position is funded by restricted funding from the Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women (JFEW) and is contingent upon successful renewal of the grant agreement. This position reports to the Director of the Public Policy Program.

Generously funded by the Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women, JFEW Scholars come from diverse backgrounds and majors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement seven workshops, Orientation, and annual Washington trip (safety permitting).
  • Work with Hunter Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, Financial Aid, Office of Prestigious Scholarships, and with relevant Hunter offices in general support of the Program.
  • Recruit, select, and onboard JFEW Scholars with Director. Match Scholars to mentors.
  • Manage relationships with alumni, events speakers, and internships supervisors.
  • Share opportunities and assist with application materials for jobs, grad school, and fellowships.
  • Monitor the Program budget to ensure that expenditures are in line with the grant agreement.
  • Secure internship sites for JFEW Scholars, assist Scholars in preparing application materials, and match Scholars with internship positions.
  • Collect internship evaluations from Scholars and site supervisors, share feedback with Scholars.
  • Track and report student data each semester to ensure eligibility for the program and assist with academic challenges
  • Prepare the annual Program report in collaboration with the Director and Institutional Advancement, and respond to other requests for reports as needed.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement, Office of the President, and Roosevelt House staff to coordinate the summer appreciation dinner (safety permitting).
  • Process and distribute scholarships and stipend checks for summer internships.
  • Liaise with JFEW staff and other Coordinators in support of students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Culturally responsive and able to work with students of many backgrounds
  • Excellent writing skills; able to edit and provide feedback on resumes, personal statements, and application materials
  • Skilled in managing and building relationships with donors and portfolio of community contacts
  • Organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and responsive
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to offer constructive feedback and have supportive conversations
  • Experience planning and facilitating events and workshops a plus
  • Background in public policy preferred
