Abraham Gutman came to Hunter College from Tel Aviv, Israel.  Before his time at Hunter, Abraham worked as a senior-EMT and was involved in global health projects in Mongolia and Haiti.  During his time at Hunter, Abraham found that social science research with the end goal of promoting social justice is his passion. As an economics BA/MA student, Abraham wrote an MA thesis titled, “Stop and Frisk Redux: Analysis of Racial Bias in New York City.” In his thesis, he applies econometric models to NYPD data to investigate racial bias in the policing practice. This work was presented in a number of conferences during this spring including the Population Association of America Annual Meeting.  As student in the public policy program, Abraham wrote a capstone about the School-to-Prison Pipeline. He hopes to be able to continue this line of research in a PhD program in upcoming years.
