• About:

Anika Zaman is a senior in the Sage Scholar program at Hunter College. She will graduate in the Spring of 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Public Policy. Her studies have ranged from researching the detrimental health effects extreme weather events as a result of climate change have on minority communities to, currently, acknowledging the impact of poverty on reproductive health in her Capstone thesis.

She has been involved in educational environments, having worked at the New York Hall of Science, where she encouraged people to think about their experiences and situations when trying to understand abstract science concepts and developing innovative solutions to design dilemmas. She hopes to transfer these skills into the health policy arena by being a liaison between scientific professionals and public officials.

The future of health and medicine will always be full of questions. The beauty of science is that anyone can ask a question. She hopes to be a purveyor of progress and an advocate for change in vulnerable communities to ensure the work of others can be shared in an ethical manner to the benefit of all.
