Lynn Chancer is Professor and Chair of the Sociology Department at Hunter College, City University of New York. She is author of five books, including High Profile Crimes: When Legal Cases Become Social Causes (2005) and Gender, Race and Class: An Overview (2007). Lynn has written many articles in the areas of sociology of culture, feminist theory, criminology, media and social movements. She has also written about guaranteed minimum income and has a longstanding interest in public sociology.
