      Matthew began his tertiary education at Hunter College as a student of the Macaulay Honors College where he studied economics and political science and minored in public policy. Matthew served as an active member of the Hunter College community, co-founding a Generation Citizen Chapter, a national civic action education organization, and served as Vice President of the Undergraduate Student Government. As an economics and political science major, Matthew researched urban economic development and conducted research in regards to zoning in Downtown Brooklyn at the New York City Economic Development Corporation during his sophomore year. He furthered his understanding by working at the Empire State Development in the New York City Regional Economic Development Council during his junior year. The summer prior to his senior year, Matthew lived in Washington D.C. to intern with the United States Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, researching the effects of the National Environmental Protection Act on national economic growth and energy security. In his final year of study, Matthew wrote a public policy capstone evaluating the effects of the creation of clean energy infrastructure on workforce development, specifically on those in coal country. While writing his capstone, Matthew interned at Kohlberg Kravis and Roberts Global Institute working with General David Petraeus on his visions of global leadership. Matthew hopes to continue his work in the world of public policy and run for elected office in the future.
