      Megan Akaraphotivong is a senior at Hunter who will be graduating with Honors, a double major in Political Science and Public Policy at the Roosevelt House, and minor in International Relations. She is dedicated to promoting civil liberties and human rights, including the eradication of gender inequalities and domestic violence around the world. She has worked as a representative for the State Assembly in the 73rd District, acting as a liaison for the constituents of the Upper East Side in Manhattan. She currently works at the United Nations with the Mayor’s Office of International Affairs in Strategic Partnerships, advocating for women’s rights and acting as a coordinator in the NYC Junior Ambassador’s program. Her Public Policy Program capstone project is focused on protecting reproductive rights and ensuring access to reproductive health care for marginalized and impoverished New Yorkers.

      She will be getting her Masters Degree in International Affairs abroad next year. Thereafter, she will continue to focus attention on human rights issues and multilateral diplomacy, pursing her career in the Foreign Service.
