      Michael J. Stirratt, Ph.D. is a Scientific Program Officer at the NIMH Division of AIDS Research, where he leads a portfolio of federally-funded research grants addressing HIV treatment and prevention adherence. Dr. Stirratt has worked for 20 years in HIV behavioral research with a focus on antiretroviral medication adherence and sexual risk reduction among people living with HIV. He has also recently advanced behavioral and implementation science research initiatives designed to strengthen delivery and use of PrEP among persons at substantial risk for HIV infection. Dr. Stirratt serves as Co-Chair for the NIH Adherence Network, a consortium of science officers at 17 NIH Institutes, Offices, and Centers that seeks to advance adherence research. Prior to joining NIH, Dr. Stirratt was one of the first staff members to work at the Center for HIV Educational Studies & Training (CHEST).
