      Norma Fuentes-Mayorga is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department and the Latin American and Latina/o Studies Program at City College, CUNY. Before joining City, Dr. Fuentes was a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University’s Center for Migration and Development (CMD) and an Assistant Professor in Sociology at Fordham University. Her current research focus is on Latin American women-led US immigration and the educational mobility of the daughters of immigrants in the US and Europe. Her latest publications include, “Hispanics in Metropolitan America: New Realities and Old Debates,” co-authored with Marta Tienda, Annual Review of Sociology (2014) and with Maurice Crul, et al (2013) “Educating the Children of Immigrants in Old and New Amsterdam” in, R. Alba and J. Holdaway (eds.) The Children of Immigrants at School: A Comparative Look at Integration in the United States and Western Europe. Dr. Fuentes received her PhD in sociology from Columbia University in 2005 as well as two prestigious, fellowships from the Social Sciences Research Council and the National Sciences Foundation to support research at the University (IMES) and Princeton University’s CMD.
