• About:

Rachel Nurse started off as a pre-nursing student at Lehman College and transferred to Hunter College to be a part of the number one nursing program in the CUNY system. She is currently a senior year generic nursing student with a minor in public policy. Living in Bedford Stuyvesant and having to work for minimum wage at the young age of 15, Rachel learned that lack of financial support could lead to devastating health conditions, poor living conditions, and overall poor quality of life. This reality along with the support of medical role models in her family helped Rachel go after her passion of being a nurse as well as contributing to the policy changes to better the community she grew up in. This passion drives her capstone project which address the high rates of HIV in high poverty neighborhood such as her own community Bedford Stuyvesant.
