Author and renowned healthcare systems expert Bill Haseltine presents his new book, Affordable Excellence; The Singapore Health Care Story: How to Create and Manage Sustainable Health Care Systems (Brookings, 2013), highlighting in the Singapore healthcare system what Haseltine calls “the best health care system at the best price…’Affordable Excellence.'”  Haseltine will share advice on how to apply the lessons of ‘Affordable Excellence’ to the U.S. health care system.

William A. Haseltine is President and Founder of ACCESS Health International dedicated to promoting access to high-quality affordable healthcare worldwide, and is President of the William A. Haseltine Foundation for Medical Sciences and the Arts. He was a Professor at Harvard Medical School and was the Founder and CEO of Human Genome Sciences.


Partha Deb  Professor of Economics at Hunter College and the Graduate Center (CUNY) and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research

Partha Deb is Professor of Economics at Hunter College and the Graduate Center (CUNY) and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. A specialist in health economics, he publishes regularly in leading health economics and econometrics journals as well as in multidisciplinary health services and medical journals. He is also the author of two popular statistical software packages for Stata and a co-principal investigator on two major research grants, one from the National Cancer Institute, and the other from the Agency for Health Research and Quality. In September 2011, as part of initiatives introduced by the Affordable Care Act, the Obama Administration appointed Professor Deb Senior Advisor at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.
