Please join us as Roosevelt House welcomes William J. Mann, author of The Wars of the Roosevelts, a new look at the political careers and family rivalries among three generations of Roosevelts that presidential biographer Douglas Brinkley calls “a thoroughly riveting read…a real page-turner.” Mann explores the public and the private stories of the two Roosevelt families – the Oyster Bay branch, including the future president Theodore, his younger brother Elliott, and Theodore’s daughter Alice; as well as the Hyde Park branch, including Sara Delano Roosevelt and the future president Franklin; and, at center stage, Eleanor Roosevelt, the bridge between the two families. Drawing on previously unpublished primary sources, Mann offers a meticulously researched and groundbreaking group portrait of this legendary family. Kirkus Reviews calls The Wars of the Roosevelts: The Ruthless Rise of America’s Greatest Family a “compulsively readable account.”

This special evening commemorates the 135th anniversary of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s birth, on January 30, 1882.
