Hunter College’s own member of Congress—U.S. Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney—hosted a community roundtable on the gun violence crisis at Roosevelt House on Tuesday, October 13.

The discussion, which was attended by several city and state officials, was followed by a news conference in the Roosevelt House’s Four Freedom’s Room—and as Hunter President Jennifer J. Raab noted in introducing the participants, one of FDR’s basic freedom guarantees was “Freedom from Fear”—which, as Ms. Maloney pointed out, is under serious threat due to escalating gun violence.
