William A. Herbert, RH Faculty Associate and Distinguished Lecturer and Margaret M. Chin, RH Faculty Associate and Professor of Sociology, have authored chapters in the new book City of Workers, City of Struggles: How Labor Movements Changed New York, edited by Joshua Freeman and published by the Museum of the City of New York and Columbia University Press. Herbert’s chapter explores the history of public workers in New York City. Chin’s chapter, which she co-authored with Kenneth J. Guest, is titled Chinatown, the Garment and Restaurant Industries and Labor. The book is tied with a new exhibit on New York City labor history opening on May 1, 2019 at the Museum of the City of New York.
