• About:

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Marynis Lopez is a Senior at Hunter College. She is currently majoring in Political Science and pursuing a Public Policy Certificate. Born to Ecuadorian parents and a first-generation college student, Marynis was aware from a very young age the sacrifices that immigrant families make everyday to give their children the opportunity to pursue the American dream. Having interned at the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office at the age of 14 and more recently at her district’s City Council office, she has always dreamed of a career in public service. Marynis aspires to attend law school to fight anti-immigration laws and policies in light of the current administration’s actions against immigrants and asylum-seekers. Upon graduation, she will be moving to Orlando, Florida to begin a new chapter for herself and her daughter.
